We did Keys to the Kingdom in September and the lunch was served at Tomorrowland Terrace with food choices from there (pork banh mi sandwich, burger, chicken strips, salad) and what looked like Casey's (corn dog nuggets, hot dog). Tomorrowland Terrace was not serving to the public that day, not sure if that matters.
Lunch was approximately 12:15, lasting about a half an hour in a reserved area in Pecos Bills. There we had personalized place cards with our Keys to the Kingdom pin inside and our lunch was waiting for us at the table. It was years ago, but I seem to remember DW & I staying at POFQ and doing an 8am Keys tour and had no problem using Disney transportation. I've done that tour as well as the railroad one a couple of times. Both are excellent. Backstage is obviously most of the day, Keys quite a bit shorter. I think it really is a matter of time and money as to which works best for you. One park vs. 4 parks and a bit more. A lot of the areas covered in Keys are also covered in Backstage, so there is overlap.I would suggest you call WDW and ask ahead of time before your trip so you would know for sure! 407-939-7675 is the number you should call for assistance, just explain you situation and if they are unable to answer you question they can direct you to the right area for more information and hopefully the right answer.
Keys to The Kingdom Tours depart every half-hour starting at 8am and ending at 9:30 am. Leaving the Caribbean Beach Resort (but actually the Riviera), we arrive to the transportation center, via Lyft. Taking a bus would have worked out in the end, but we want to ensure we make it to our tour on time.
